Agent role and access
An 'Agent' is a third party who has a basic level of access to the Export Service.
A ‘Principal Authority (Owner)’ or ‘Manager’ needs to invite an ‘Agent’ to act for a business in the Export Service. The ‘Agent’ role has a basic access level and can perform the following tasks:
- Manage a registered establishment*.
- Submit applications*.
- Make changes to management or control*.
- Set and change notification preferences.
- Receive department notifications and messages.
*You must be listed in management or control of the registered establishment to carry out these tasks.

Roles and access
The Export Service has 4 roles with varying permission and access levels. Each person is assigned a role to ensure they have the correct access to a business.

Job titles and Export Service roles
Your assigned role in the Export Service may differ from your job title in the business.
An ‘Agent’ may work in a business as:
- a service provider
- an export agent
- a freight forwarder
- a trader.
Changing roles and access
If you can't do something in the Export Service, you may need to be assigned a different role.
