How is an account different to management or control?

Learn how an Export Service account differs to management or control of a registered establishment.

  • Account
  • Management or control
  • Establishment
  • Roles
  • Export operations

Having an Export Service account linked to a business is not the same as being on management or control for a registered establishment.

You must have an Export Service account to access the Export Service. You can link your account to a business in the Export Service.

You may also be in management or control for a registered establishment of the business. This will allow you to manage that registered establishment in the Export Service.

Export Service accounts and roles

You create an Export Service account by signing in to the Export Service with a myGovID. You can then link your account to a business and be assigned an Export Service role.

There are 4 roles with varying permission and access levels. What you can do for a business in your account depends on your assigned role and access level.

For more information, go to Roles and access levels in the Export Service.

Management or control

Management or control is the list of staff for a registered establishment who have the authority to direct:

  • export operations, or a substantial part of the export operations, of the business, or
  • another person who has or would have the authority to direct a person described as above in the exercise of that authority.

It's part of a registered establishment’s Certificate of Registration. For more information, go to What is management or control?.

Managing establishments in the Export Service

To manage a registered establishment in the Export Service you need:

  • an Export Service account
  • an assigned Export Service role with the business
  • to be in management or control for the registered establishment.

You will only see a registered establishment in the Export Service if you are on its management or control list.

For more information, go to Manage an establishment.
