Why do we use Relationship Authorisation Manager?

Information on why we use RAM to confirm someone can act for a business.

  • Business
  • Principal authority
  • Account

Relationship Authorisation Manager, opens in a new tab (RAM) connects businesses to government online services. RAM links to the Australian Business Register, opens in a new tab (ABR). The ABR allows access to details of a business's Australian Business Number (ABN).

The ABR records people responsible for the business. They are known as principal authorities. A Principal authority, opens in a new tab can use RAM to link the business to their Digital ID.

A Digital ID confirms the identity of a person. When linked to a business, it confirms the person has authority to act for the business. We use RAM to verify that a person has the authority to add the business to the Export Service.

You can add a business to the Export Service if you are listed in RAM as a principal authority, opens in a new tab or authorisation administrator, opens in a new tab. For more information, go to Add a business to the Export Service.

You can also be invited to act for a business in the Export Service. You do not need a RAM authorisation to accept an invite to a business. For more information, go to Invite someone to act for a business.
