What is the renewal period for an export licence?
Understand the rules about when you can apply to renew your export licence.
You must apply to renew a meat or livestock export licence within the renewal period.
You can apply to renew your licence from 180 days before its expiry date. You must submit your application at least 120 days before it expires.
This means you have 60 days to apply.
For example, if your licence expires on 8 July, you must submit your application between 9 January and 10 March.
If you don’t apply to renew within this time, you risk your licence expiring before it can be renewed.
You can’t export meat or livestock with an expired licence.
Processing times
We’ll process your application within 120 days.
You need to apply within the renewal period to ensure we have enough time to process your application before the licence expires.
For more information, go to Renew or vary a meat or livestock export licence.
You do not have to use the Export Service
Using the Export Service provides a simpler, faster way to apply for, renew, vary or cancel meat and livestock export licences. It is not mandatory though.
You have the option to use the Export Service or submit a PDF application form. To request the PDF form, for meat email exportmeatlicensing@aff.gov.au or for livestock email livestock@aff.gov.au.
