Do I need to be in management or control to approve export permits?
Management or control requirements vary depending on commodity.
Under the Export Control Act 2020, all products prescribed under legislation, opens in a new tab exported from Australia need a permit. You can create export permits in our Export Documentation system (EXDOC) or Next Export Documentation system (NEXDOC).
Meat
People who can authorise meat commodity requests for permit are called Request For Permit (RFP) Declarants. They can authorise RFPs via EXDOC and must be listed in management or control for the registered establishment.
Fish and dairy
For fish and diary, people who can authorise permits are called Approved Export Permit Issuers (AEPIs). They don’t need to be listed in management or control. They do need to be listed in the registered establishment’s approved arrangement.
AEPIs can approve RFPs for fish commodities or REXs for dairy commodities only.
