Why should I not share a myID?

Your myID is your personal Digital ID. You can use it to access a range of government online services. These include both work-related and personal services. For more information, go to myID, opens in a new tab.
Protecting your myID
It's important not to share your myID. This includes:
- sharing your myID username and/or password
- verifying an access code with your myID for someone else.
If you do, they could access your personal information in services such as Medicare, opens in a new tab and the Australian Taxation Office, opens in a new tab (ATO).
They could also access business-related information in services such as the ATO or Australian Business Register, opens in a new tab (ABR). You may be liable for any action they perform.

Giving staff access to the Export Service
Each person using the Export Service should sign in with their own myID. You can add employees or third parties to the Export Service so they can act for your business. For more information, go to Invite someone to act for a business.
