What is Digital ID and why do we use it?

Why government services including the Export Service use Digital ID.

How people access government services online is changing. As more services move online, most Australians will need a Digital ID. With a Digital ID, you can prove who you are online to access a range of government services. It provides a convenient, reusable and secure way to verify your identity with us.

Digital ID is used by many Australian Government agencies, including Medicare, Centrelink and the Australian Taxation Office. Using a Digital ID means you don't have to provide your identity documents every time you do business with us.

You only need to verify your identity once to get a Digital ID. You can then reuse it without needing to remember multiple passwords and sign-in details.

myID

myID, opens in a new tab is the Australian Government's Digital ID app. It is currently the only Digital ID you can use to access the Export Service. For more information, go to myID and the Export Service.
