What identity strength do I need?

Set up the right identity strength to do tasks in the Export Service.

  • Account
  • Principal authority
  • Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)
  • myID
  • Digital ID

A stronger identity strength gives you access to a wider range of services in the Export Service. Email sign-in gives you 'Basic' identity strength. myID can give you 'Standard' or 'Strong' identity strength.

Email sign-in

Email sign-in will only give you a 'Basic' identity strength with limited access to tasks in the Export Service. With 'Basic' identity strength, you can:

  • accept an invite to a business in the Export Service
  • view who can access a business
  • manage access to a business if you are a principal authority or manager
  • view messages.

myID

Using a myID with a 'Standard' or 'Strong' identity strength allows you to access more of our services. For example, if you need to manage an establishment, you must have 'Standard' or 'Strong' identity strength.

For more information about how to increase your myID identity strength, go to myID identity strength, opens in a new tab.

Employees and third parties

If you are an employee and third party, you can have a 'Basic' identity strength. However, you may need a 'Standard' or 'Strong' identity strength to access the services you need.

Business owners and principal authorities

Relationship Authorisation Manager, opens in a new tab (RAM) links businesses to government services. To link your business to your Digital ID in RAM, you need a 'Strong' identity strength. You can link your business with ‘Standard’ identity strength by calling the RAM Helpline, opens in a new tab.

You can then add your business to the Export Service. For more information, go to Add a business to the Export Service.

For more information on linking a business in RAM, go to Principal authority, opens in a new tab.
