Revoke a registration and add a new occupier

If someone else plans to register your establishment, you need to revoke its export registration and approved arrangement (if it has one).

You also need to tell us who the new occupier will be. This is the person who will apply to register the establishment. For example, if you sell a registered establishment in the same location to a new business or owner.

When to use this application

Use this application to:

• revoke an establishment’s registration and approved arrangement (if it has one), and
• tell us basic details about the new occupier, including their name, contact details and Australian Business Number (ABN).

You will need to provide your reasons for revoking the registration and the date to revoke it.

What happens next

After you submit this application:

• the new occupier will need to create an Export Service account if they don’t already have one
• they’ll need to apply to register the establishment under their business name and ABN.

Apply online

Follow the steps to revoke an establishment’s registration and nominate a new occupier:

• Sign in, opens in a new tab to your Export Service account.
• Go to ‘Businesses’ and select the business.
• Select ‘Establishments’ or ‘Manage establishments’.
• Go to ‘Your establishments’ and select the establishment.
• Select the ‘Export operations’ tab.
• Select ‘Revoke registration or revoke and nominate a new occupier’.
• Select ‘The establishment will be sold to a new occupier’.
• Complete and submit the application.
• Notify the new occupier that you have applied to revoke the establishment. You will need to provide them with the reference number generated in this application.

You will need to provide your contact details or someone else’s for your application. This person must be on the registered establishment’s management or control list.

New occupier

If you are the new occupier, you will need to apply to register the establishment under your business.

Use the reference number provided by the previous occupier.

Follow the steps to apply:

1. Sign in, opens in a new tab or create an Export Service account., opens in a new tab
2. Go to 'Businesses' and select the business.
3. Select 'Establishments' or 'Manage establishments'.
4. Select ‘Register an establishment’.
5. Select ‘The establishment was purchased by a new occupier’.
6. Complete and submit the application.

We’ll assess your application and let you know by email if we can approve it. We’ll contact you if we need more information.

Closing your establishment

Select a different option on the first screen of the application if you’re closing the registered establishment completely. That is, when you no longer need it to be export registered.

To do that, select ‘The establishment is ceasing export operations’.
