What is TRACE?

Find out about TRACE (Tracking Animal Certification for Export) and how to use it.

TRACE is one of our online services. We use it to manage applications and approvals for:

  • livestock exports
  • animal reproductive material exports.

Notices of Intention

The primary purpose of TRACE is to process and manage Notices of Intention (NOIs).

An NOI tells us you intend to export a consignment of livestock or animal reproductive material. It is a declaration that starts the process of obtaining an Export Permit and Health Certificate.

What TRACE is for

If you are a licenced livestock or animal reproductive material exporter, you can use TRACE to:

  • draft, send or vary an NOI
  • view export licences (livestock exporters only)
  • nominate registered establishments and accredited veterinarians for an NOI.

Where you access TRACE is changing

Soon you'll need to access TRACE in the Export Service.

We recommend setting up an Export Service account for your business now.
