What is TRACE?
Find out about the Tracking Animal Certification for Export (TRACE) system.
TRACE is one of our online services. We use it to manage and process Notices of Intention (NOIs) for livestock and animal reproductive material exports.
We also use TRACE to manage regulatory information about livestock export licences, registered establishments and accredited veterinarians (AAVs).
What TRACE is for
If you are a licensed livestock or animal reproductive material exporter, you must use TRACE to:
- draft, submit and/or vary an NOI
- view your livestock export licence.
Access to TRACE
Notices of Intention
An NOI tells us you intend to export a consignment of livestock or animal reproductive material.
It's a declaration that starts the process of gaining approval for export. This includes obtaining an Export Permit and Health Certificate.
TRACE is not the same as ‘TRACES NT’
TRACES NT is the European Union’s system for managing digital certificates.
You may need to register for TRACES NT if you export goods to the EU. For more information, go to TRACES NT frequently asked questions, opens in a new tab.
