Understand the risks of sharing your myGovID details with others.

  • myGovID
  • Digital Identity

Your myGovID is your personal digital identity. You can use it to access a range of government online services. These include both work-related and personal services. For more information, go to What is myGovID?.

Protecting your myGovID

It's important not to share your myGovID. This includes:

  • sharing your myGovID username and/or password
  • verifying an access code with your myGovID for someone else.

This means someone could access your personal information across services such as Medicare and the Australian Taxation Office, opens in a new tab (ATO). They could also access business-related information other than the Export Service. This may include the ATO or Australian Business Register, opens in a new tab (ABR). You may be liable for any action they perform.

It is your responsibility to protect your myGovID. This will ensure the security of your identity and personal information. For more information, go to Security.

Giving staff access to the Export Service

Each person using the Export Service should sign in with their own myGovID. You can add employees or third parties to the Export Service so they can act for your business. For more information, go to Manage who can act on behalf of a business.
