Why do I need Digital Identity for the Export Service?

Why we use Digital Identity across government services including our Export Service.

You need a Digital Identity to prove who you are and access the Export Service online. Digital Identity provides a convenient, reusable and secure way to verify your identity to us.

It’s a solution used across Australian government agencies including our department. For example, Medicare, Centrelink and the Australian Taxation Office all use Digital Identity.

It prevents you from needing to provide your identity documents repeatedly every time you do business with the government. The only provider currently available to prove your Digital Identity with government is myGovID., opens in a new tab

Once we know who you are, we can do business with you in your Export Service account. You can then act for an export-registered establishment and do export activities. For example, make changes to an export-registered establishment’s export operations.
