Create a myGovID

How to create a Digital Identity with myGovID so you can create an Export Service account.

  • myGovID
  • Digital Identity
  • Account

You need a myGovID to use an Export Service account.

To create a myGovID:

  1. Go to How to set up, opens in a new tab a myGovID.
  2. Download and set up the myGovID app on your smart device.
  3. Enter your personal details.
  4. Verify your Australian Identity documents. You need at least 2 from the ‘Standard’ identity strength list to access the Export Service.
  5. Follow the prompts to set up your myGovID.

While you only need a ‘Standard’ identity strength for our services, you can also use a 'Strong' identity strength. For more information, go to What myGovID strength do I need?.

Once your myGovID is linked to Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), you can sign in to your Export Service account.

Or you can accept an authorisation to access the Export Service on behalf of a business and sign in.

myGovID and myGov

myGovID is different to myGov. You access government services like the Australian Taxation Office, Medicare and Centrelink through myGov. For more information, go to myGovID, opens in a new tab.

Protect your myGovID

It’s important not to share your myGovID username and password with others. If you do, it can allow someone to perform unwanted actions on your behalf.

For example, they can change the registered export operations of your registered establishment in the Export Service. They can also access your personal data across other services such as tax and health.

For more information, go to the Protecting your myGovID section of Security, opens in a new tab.

Why we use myGovID

myGovID is a secure way for you to reuse your identity across government services. In the Export Service, myGovID helps us makes sure people are who they say they are.

This ensures the right people are authorised to access business information and tasks in the Export Service. For more information, go to Why do I need Digital Identity for the Export Service?.
