Business owner or principal authority
Create an account as a business owner or principal authority. You can also allow others access to the Export Service for your business.
Step 1: Set up myGovID
Already have a myGovID? Go to Step 2.
myGovID is a form of Digital Identity that lets you prove who you are when using online government services.
What you'll need
- about 20 minutes
- a smart device
- 2 Australian identification documents
- driver licence or learner permit
- passport (not more than three years expired)
- birth certificate
- visa (if using your foreign passport)
- citizenship certificate
- ImmiCard
- Medicare card.
Identity strength
Your Export Service account requires 'standard' identity strength. But we recommend setting up your account with 'strong' identity strength to make it faster to link your business online.
It’s possible to create an account with ‘standard’ strength but this involves calling the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to manually link your business.
Download myGovID from the App Store or Google Play and follow the prompts.
Find out more about how to set up, opens in a new tab myGovID.
Step 2: Link myGovID to RAM
Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) enables people to act online on behalf of a business. It requires an ABN linked to myGovID.
Skip this step if you know your business is linked.
Check business is linked
To find out if a business is linked to RAM via myGovID, sign in to RAM and look for the business name under Entity name on the Manage Authorisations page.
If you don't see your business, your ABN isn't linked to your myGovID.
Linking a business in RAM
If you have ‘strong’ identity strength, you can link up to 7 businesses online in RAM. If you have ‘standard’ strength, you will need to call 1300 287 539 and select option 3 to link your business(s).
To link more than 7 businesses complete the Assistance to link bulk ABNs form, opens in a new tab. Find out more about how to link your myGovID to a business using RAM, opens in a new tab.
Once you link your business, you can sign in and start using the Export Service or authorise access for others.
